Engagement Letter

As a Certified Financial Planner, I work with my clients on a consultative basis to understand their objectives and then help develop a holistic plan for achieving them.  The most common goal is the accumulation of sufficient wealth to achieve financial independence, a concern which has become magnified by uncertainties of the economy and financial markets.  What differs from one client to another are the personal circumstances they face and their specific priorities.

What distinguishes me from many financial professionals is my ability to provide comprehensive, objective advice over the long haul and to better assist clients with achieving their goals.  Throughout the course of a client relationship, we frequently address the following subjects - wealth management, investment planning, income tax planning, retirement income distributions, asset protection strategies, insurance coverage, and mortgage financing.  How I proceed with each client depends on their specific
priorities and what level of service they seek.

As an independent practitioner, I am compensated on a fee basis for specific consultations at an hourly or flat rate.  My hourly rate is $250, but I am normally able to work with a client on a flat fee arrangement based on the specific nature and duration of the engagement.  The engagement will allow
me to review your situation in context with your expressed concerns, and then to propose an overall gameplan for accomplishing your objectives.  My advice is fully documented, and serves as the basis for discussing several strategies that may be of interest, including their pros and cons.

I also assist my clients with implementing their financial plan, and normally am compensated for asset management services on a fee based percentage or by commissions on certain investment products.  I am also compensated on a commission basis for any insurance coverage I may help you procure that is relevant for your needs.  All fees will be disclosed along with your consideration to implement any investment or insurance advice recommended by me.

As part of their financial plan, occasionally my clients may consider complimentary services such as that of a mortgage broker, accountant, or attorney.  If so, I am in a position to recommend certain professionals to whom I have referred many clients in the past.  Any fees charged by other professionals are separate from any fees you might have already paid me, and are assessed for distinct services which I can not/do not provide.  At this point, I have no fee sharing arrangements with any professionals who I
typically recommend.
